MISSION:  OBJECTIVES:
The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist is committed to provide public service through the transfer of appropriate technologies, protect the environment, reduce cost of production, improve product quality, and develop entrepreneurial skills. Increase product value and empower clientele for global competitiveness in agriculture and community development.

 Increase the real income of household farmers through increased production and improve marketing system.

Attain self-sufficiency in rice and other commodities for food security

Promote organic farming technologies/practices

Promote and support multi-level entrepreneurial training programs to accelerate transfer of environment friendly technologies

Strengthen linkages with financing institutions/foundations and other sources of funds to support viable projects of farmers and entrepreneurs.

Strengthen farmer based organizations through livelihood promotions, entrepreneurial and resource development.

Work accomplishment per banner program:

ON RICE PROGRAM

  • Collected samples for “sactoto” for identification and control and submitted to PhilRice
  • Conducted master listing of Sagada rice farmers
  • Monitored the 2nd cycle of palay starter seeds distributed to the farmers

 ON LIVESTOCK PROGRAM

  1. Vaccinated 793 dogs against rabies
  2. Conducted etag promotion during etag festival and Provincial Lang-ay
  3. Distributed 50 heads range chicken to MAFC members
  4. Vaccinated 470 heads poultry layers against New Castle Disease
  5. Distributed 350 pullets dual type range chicken to typhoon Ineng victims ON FISHERY PROGRAM
  • We are the co – implementers of fish production projects with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- CAR, Provincial Government of Mountain Province and the Local Government Unit of Sagada
  • These were the activities/accomplishment of our Municipal Fishery Coordinator
  1. Prepared request letter for fingerling dispersals to BFAR-CAR, PLGU-Bontoc and LGU- Sagada

ON HIGH VALUE CROPS DEVELOPMENT

  • Assisted in the maintenance of the centralized coffee buying station and coffee processing center in Makamkamlis, Nangonogan, Poblacion.
  • Assisted BSU staff under Dr. Nagpala in the collection of pest and diseases specimens for strawberries.
  • Assisted Janice from OPAG in the validation of sites for the provision of greenhouse under the organic program (production of organic vegetables)
  • Assisted in the distribution of power sprayer from DA to Madchikom Coffee Producers Multipurpose Cooperative and Tanulong FA
  • Distributed 3,750 pieces’ coffee seedlings from DA-CAR to 27 farmers municipal wide
  • Distributed 7,000 sweet potato planting materials to interested farmers
  • Distributed 150 seedlings kalamansi (availed by 9 cooperators), 420 seedlings lemon (availed by 17 cooperators), 485 seedlings grapes (availed by 19 cooperators) and 616 dragon saplings (availed by 9 cooperators) from CORDNET, MPNET and Christian Aid through Ms. Dum-an Macagne
  • Distributed 2 rolls of plastic for the establishment of green house to Mrs. Betty Magalgalit from Demang) and Fabian Guindalos from Ankileng
  • Distributed 2 rolls insect fine mesh nets to Aida Pis-o and Janet Bomogaw for vegetable production under protected cultivation both from barangay Ankileng

ISSUES AND CONCERNS:

  • An ordinance to limit the number of dogs per household (should be one household one dog policy for the control of deadly rabies, lessen dog bites among children, to attain a 100% vaccination and for a clean barangay doing away with their wastes along the pathways and roads).
